About Master Gardener Ora Jones

Mrs. Ora Jones is a Louisiana Master Gardener, educator, and community advocate dedicated to promoting sustainable gardening, healthy living, and environmental stewardship. Through Mrs. Ora’s Kountry Garden, she shares her passion for growing food, teaching practical gardening skills, and inspiring people of all ages to connect with nature. Her work empowers families, schools, and community organizations to cultivate healthier lifestyles, preserve agricultural traditions, and create lasting positive change through hands-on education and community engagement.

Our Mission

Mrs. Ora’s mission is to cultivate healthier communities by empowering people through gardening, sustainable agriculture, and hands-on education. Through Kountry Garden, she inspires children, families, and adults to grow their own food, care for the environment, and build stronger connections to one another while preserving the traditions of Louisiana agriculture. Her work demonstrates that every garden can become a place of learning, nourishment, and community growth.

Our Vision

To create thriving communities where every family has the knowledge, confidence, and opportunity to grow, prepare, and share healthy food. Through hands-on education, sustainable gardening, and culinary experiences, we envision a future where people of all ages reconnect with the land, celebrate cultural traditions, reduce food waste, and build healthier, more resilient communities—one garden and one meal at a time.

Our Projects

Our projects focus on empowering communities through practical, hands-on initiatives that bring people closer to their food and to one another. From community gardens and urban farming programs to cooking workshops and food preservation classes, each project is designed to build skills, foster collaboration, and promote sustainable living. We work with families, schools, and local organizations to create spaces where people can learn, grow, and share knowledge. By combining education, environmental stewardship, and cultural appreciation, our projects aim to strengthen community bonds, reduce food insecurity, and inspire healthier, more connected lifestyles.
